About Us | Aberdeen Academy of Performing Arts | Dance | Drama | Gymnastics | Musical Theatre | Mac the Monkey

Jopp 3The school was established in August 2005 and has within the short space of time become one of the leaders in performing arts education in Scotland. Very few schools in Scotland offer the wide range of classes that we do and have the accreditations, funding opportunities and officially approved courses that we have.

For our youngest students at 18 months we are specialists in pre-school performing arts education and we are the home of the first Mac the Monkey Sports and Performing Arts Academy with many classes taking place in the AAPA studios and around the North East.

Our gymnastics and sports, dance and young performers classes start from 18 months and we run a range of parent and child sessions and independent child sessions. Our in house and external class assessments are optional and we offer them for the ages 3 years and upwards. Our students just love them and the benefits gained from one of our little students taking part in our exam session are invaluable. You can be sure that while your child attends our classes that their love for performing and confidence will grow.

Our classes for children 5 years old and over are carefully structured and children develop and progress at their own speed. Our students are challenged to be the best that they can be in our fun and friendly learning environment.

Our studios also host Full Time Professional Performing Arts courses and the Mac the Monkey Little Nursery – the weekly educational alternative to nursery.

Examinations are possible in nearly every subject through our exam boards BATD, IDTA, Trinity and all children that attend our classes are given the opportunity to take part in these exams through the year.

We run our own Acrobatic Gymnastics internal assessment scheme and internally assess the Melody Bear Dance Classes and the Mac the Monkey Performing Arts Academy Classes.

Enrolling in classes couldn't be easier. Just look at the timetable and email us letting us know which class you wish to attend. Our office staff will advise if we have a waiting list or when the next appropriate start date would be.

Keep an eye on our Latest News page for shows, auditions, trials, term dates and new classes that may be starting.
